A Summer Happening 2001

Whether it was being entertained by Zozo the clown, looking under the bonnet of classic cars or just admiring the pretty girls like Julie, the County Air Ambulance Queen, who was helping out with the tombola, there was something for everyone at this year's Summer Happening in Victoria Park.

PrideFM Radio linked the prodeedings that included Kadenza, a quartet of young lady saxophonists ....

... and dancing displays ...

... all designed to keep the assembled crowds entertained.

Further entertainment was provided by Line Dancers and then the "Young Magician of the Year" bewitched and bemused everyone with some dazzling tricks.

The more energetic could try out the swing boats or a bouncy castle or even enjoy a game of skittles.

For the hungry there was plenty of good food available ...

... whilst the leg weary could take a ride on the miniature railway ...

... and the curious could examine the classic cars.

Fun and entertainment for all but let us not forget that the main purpose of the event was to raise funds for charities both national and local. There were up to 20 stalls representing various organisations and worthwhile charities.

Well done to all the volunteers.
